I'm the Co-founder and CEO of The Grommet. We launch undiscovered consumer products. It's also the birthplace of Citizen Commerce. I write about design, cultural anthropology, and start-ups, mostly.

A Decade of Discovery

Grommet launched on October 20, 2008.  If you want to see some of the embarrassing details of our history, check out this lighthearted post.  I’m in a more forward-looking mode–we have so much goodness ahead of us–so I’ll keep this short and to the point.

We would be nowhere without the supporters, Makers, and retailers who create and embrace each Grommet. Pure and simple.  Thank you.

To wrap you into the celebration, I am sharing three things:

  • A short fun video that is a visual sampler of Grommets we have known and loved

  • An infographic that adds more texture and information, for the data-hounds among you

  • A short speech I am going to give the team when we get together on Thursday.  (I will add that later.)

What is our big fancy company celebration you might ask?  Black tie in a swish locale?  A team trip to an island?  Naaah.  We are too busy and too cheap to spend a lot on ourselves and we have to save our energy for Halloween.

But we are taking a moment, for sure. These milestones demand and deserve respect.  We’re doing a takeover of a local hipster diner and playing competitive team trivia.

Because that is how we roll. And I wouldn’t have it any other way.
